From the Concert Hall to Broadway
Join the Wichita Wind Symphony for our season opener, "From the Concert Hall to Broadway," an enchanting evening that marries the sophistication of the concert hall with the glamour of Broadway. The program begins with Alfred Reed’s Hounds of Spring, a vibrant rhapsody that celebrates the rejuvenation of spring with its lively and romantic tones. This is followed by Aaron Perrine’s Only Light, a poignant exploration of resilience and hope through melodic introspection.
The energy ascends with Kevin Day’s Havana, which pulses with rhythmic festivity, inviting the audience to feel the joy of dance and celebration. The Broadway spirit comes alive with Michael Brown’s arrangement, Opening Night on Broadway, featuring a medley of beloved tunes that have defined generations of theatergoers. The tribute to Stephen Sondheim in Sondheim!, arranged by Stephen Bulla, weaves through the complex and cherished melodies of one of musical theatre's greats.
The evening culminates with Five Dances from West Side Story, arranged by Gilmore & Polster, capturing the passion and drama of Bernstein’s iconic score. This season opener promises a captivating blend of music that spans classical allure and Broadway’s dramatic flair, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all.
Pilgrimage
